About Everything Rachael Ray
Wednesday, October 11, 2006 | posted by Madeline

Thanks for coming by! This site has a fair amount of new visitors these days, so I thought it would be appropriate to introduce myself and Everything Rachael Ray.

I have been cooking Rachael Ray recipes since about 2003. I also learned to cook in 2003. Coincidence? Nope. The first thing I ever made that wasn't out of a box or the freezer was a Rachael Ray recipe (Country Captain Chicken) and I have been making her recipes ever since. Every time I try a recipe from another cookbook author, I am disappointed, it takes too long, or it's beyond my skill level (doesn't take much).

I started this blog after I got tired of sharing Rachael Ray recipes with friends who didn't cook. They were kind enough to feign interest, but it started me thinking that other people might be as interested in Rachael Ray recipes as I was. And the blog was born!

This site covers all things Rachael Ray, including her cookbooks, talk show, Food Network shows, appearances and news. Instead of posting a Hall of Fame on the side of my fridge, I now label great recipes as "It's a Keeper" and so-so recipes as "Yum, But Not Yum-o" and I post my reviews of those recipes here. If I ever make a Rachael Ray recipe that really stinks, I will have to come up with a new category for it. Believe it or not, it hasn't happened to me yet.

In real life I am a lawyer, but not your lawyer, so don't ask me any legal questions! I work for a small firm and I love it. And yes, my boss reads this blog, mostly to make fun of me. I live in Northern California, near Sacramento, with my husband and imaginary cats (I'm allergic, but if I wasn't, I would have like 10 cats).

Predicting the Next President

Usually it’s obvious who is going to be the next president of the United States. First, the media decides for us who will be the nominees for each party. Then the voters elect the one who makes the most outrageous promises. That’s called leadership, and we like it.

This next election will be interesting. Most of the likely suspects are totally unelectable.

Hilary Clinton – Too divisive

John McCain – Too ugly

Colin Powell – Too smart to run

Al Gore – Too charisma challenged

Jeb Bush – Too soon

Joseph Lieberman – Too whiney sounding

Wesley Clark – Too tiny looking on TV

Howard Dean – Too crazy

John Edwards – Too goofy

Almost everyone else is too lightweight and/or too unknown. That leaves us with one candidate that can win: Joseph Biden.

Who?

He’s a tough-talking Democrat with plenty of senate experience. But the only thing that matters is the tough-talking Democrat part. He tough-talks better than anyone I’ve seen. He appears genuinely angry about the state of things, not just pretending or crazy like other candidates. It’s fun to watch. The media will adopt him soon, just because he’s more interesting than the others. I can’t decide if he’s honest or just an exceptional bullshitter. Either way, it makes him attractive at a time when so many people think the government is out to screw them.

His biggest problem is that his hair isn’t quite up to presidential standards. But it looks passable on TV and in photos. That might be good enough.

I’m not recommending that you vote for Biden. I don't know much about him. I’m not even planning to vote. I’m just predicting that he’ll win.

Who do YOU think will be the next president?

Update:

Mitt Romney - Too Mormon

Mark Warner - Too inexperienced (no International experience)

One easy way to making money on the Internet

Electronic Books or e-books are books in software form that can easily be distributed over the Internet. One of the biggest obstacles to making money on the Internet is coming up with a great product to sell. Here's a great way to come up with that product.

Nearly everyone has some specialized knowledge that can be turned into an e-book and marketed on a web site for fun and profit. In fact it is a good bet that YOU have valuable knowledge that you can share with others.

You can find several e-books about setting up a profitable web site and creating content such as e-books to sell on the Internet.

There are many advantages to selling e-books over regular printed books. The first is that they are much easier to distribute. Your e-book can be easily written for any audience and marketed to people all over the world interested in your knowledge. Although it is a good idea to offer both electronic and printed versions of your e-book, upfront printing, storage, handling and shipping costs are kept to a minimum by preparing an e-book. Advertising costs are generally less expensive on the Internet then they are in newspapers, magazines or other traditional media.

Another advantage of electronic publishing is that it is very easy to add illustrations and even sound and video files to your e-book. If you have many sounds or videos, you may want to publish your e-book on a CD-ROM which will add some of the traditional expenses back into the picture, but the value of your work will be significantly higher than publishing a printed book.
