Chinese Internet portal Sohu.com site accused of a monopoly on advertising related to the Olympic Games 2008 in Beijing, France Presse reports.
According to the publication, in 2005, Sohu.com paid 30 million dollars for exclusive rights to coverage of the Olympic Games and the use of the official logo activities. Moreover, it turned out that the right to belong Sohu.com all advertising from all the sponsors and organizers associated with the 2008 Games.
Chinese internet appealed to the Beijing Olympic Committee to consider the "exclusivity" of the transaction. Representative portal Tom.com, the main competitor Sohu.com, said that "we are not against the right to use the logo Sohu.com and lighting up. But exclusive advertising is questionable. "
Notably, such a transaction is unique to China. Earlier this country, the company is not owned by such exclusive rights. Experts estimate that advertising associated with the Olympic Games, could recoup more than cover the costs of the transaction.
